October 23, 2002 2002 SPIE ASIA PACIFIC REMOTE SENSING CONFERENCE Michigan Aerospace Corporation is an official sponsor of the 2002 SPIE Asia Pacific Remote Sensing Conference. The activities were hosted in Hangzhou, China during the month of October 2002. The conference promoted global cooperation in the remote sensing community to recognize and solve environmental problems. September 16, 2002 MICHIGAN AEROSPACE RECEIVES CONTRACT TO DEVELOP CYROGENIC SPACEFLIGHT QUALIFED TUNABLE ETALON Michigan Aerospace received a contract from NASA Langley Research Center to develop and demonstrate a new tunable cryogenic etalon that will be spaceflight qualified. This award is in the form of a Phase II SBIR award. June, 2002 MICHIGAN AEROSPACE RECEIVES CONTRACT TO BUILD SECOND-GENERATION OPTIMIZED FABRY-PEROT DOPPLER IMAGER (SOFDI) Michigan Aerospace recieved a contract from Clemson University, funded by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research to design and build the SOFDI instrument. The SOFDI instrument is based on the highly successful HRDI (High Resolution Doppler Imager) instrument that is presently making measurements aboard the Upper Atmospheric Research Satellite (UARS). The SOFDI instrument will be configured as a triple Fabry-Perot etalon system, with two tunable elements, a CCD detector, and a CLIO optic. It will be initially installed in Peru, and will be used to measure a phenomenom known as "Spread-F". May, 2002 MICHIGAN AEROSPACE RECEIVES CONTRACT TO DEVELOP COMPOSITE ETALON MOUNT Michigan Aerospace recieved a contract from the Office of Naval Research to develop a spaceflight qualified composite or ceramic etalon mount. This approach would have advantages over the existing Michigan Aerospace design, in that it would up to 80% lighter, would offer better thermal stability, and better vibration damping for spaceflight qualification. This award comes in the form of a Phase I SBIR award. |
